Every year as the storm season approaches the Town of Danville sets up a sandbag station to assist residents in preparing for the heavy rains and help reduce incidents of flooding that might cause property damage.
The Town provides sand, sandbags and a shovel for those needing sandbags. Residents can come to the Service Center and fill up to 20 sandbags. The 20 bag limit is to insure that there is a sufficient supply for all residents during the entire season.
Residents are asked to replace the provided tarp over the sand pile when finished in order to help keep it dry. Similarly, residents are asked to put the cover on the sandbag receptacle to keep those dry for the next user.
Sand and sandbags will be provided to Danville residents until the end of the rainy season, typically in mid-April..Residents can drop by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The proper way to fill a sandbag can be seen in this attached You tube video.
