Business Concierge is a complimentary service provided by the Town’s Economic Development, Planning, Building and Engineering Divisions. The Danville Business Concierge provides one-on-one consultation with new and existing businesses.
PLANNING YOUR BUSINESS
Our knowledgeable staff provides assistance to businesses early in the planning process to minimize up front expenditures. The Business Concierge’s goal is to make opening a business in Danville a pleasant experience by developing a simple roadmap for business owners.
BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS
Concierge staff identify requirements specific to the unique needs of each business. The roadmap developed for businesses will identify applicable codes to the specific type of improvement being made and only require information on plans that pertain to the scope of work. You will also be provided with insight on how to meet the requirements of other regulatory agencies such as the County Health Department, Fire District, Sanitary District, and others.
MARKETING, RETAIL INCENTIVES AND MORE
The Business Concierge Service is not only a clearinghouse for guiding your way through the permitting process at the Town. Our resourceful staff will steer you towards Town-supported programs that promote business vitality. Such programs include personalized listings on the Town’s business web site, ShopDanvilleFirst.com, retail marketing grants, cooperative advertising opportunities, retail façade improvement assistance, business workshops and other opportunities.
The Town is committed to helping insure that your business is well positioned for success and that its operations fit within the existing fabric of the business community.
Where do you plan to operate your business?
The Town’s Zoning Ordinance helps insure that businesses are located in appropriate and compatible districts. Please be sure to verify that your business is permitted in the desired location. If the business will be operating within a residential area, you may need a Home Occupancy Permit.

Planning to display a sign?
The Town’s adopted Sign Ordinance (Section 32-98) helps to assure attractive and architecturally compatible signage within Danville’s commercial areas.
If your business is located within a shopping center, please be aware that there may also be other parameters that apply. Be sure to check with your property management company.
Don’t Forget the Business License
An active Business License is required for any business that operates in Danville. The funds from this fee help provide a wide range of business promotion activities. A business that operates out of a residence will also need a Home Occupancy Permit.
