  • TRAFFIX

  • The Town of Danville is a participating member of the Measure J Traffic Congestion Relief Agency, an independent joint powers authority known as TRAFFIX.

TRAFFIX is a traffic congestion relief program funded by Measure J, the 1/2 cent sales tax extended by Contra Costa voters in 2004. Its sole purpose is to reduce traffic congestion caused by parents driving their children to and from school through some of the San Ramon Valley's most congested intersections.

TRAFFIX begins service in August 2009 with a small fleet of new clean-burning buses with state-of-the-art safety features. To determine where the program will reduce traffic most effectively, TRAFFIX conducted comprehensive traffic studies throughout the Valley and surveyed parents at all San Ramon Valley schools.

After careful consideration, students at Los Cerros MS, Pine Valley MS, Green Valley ES and Walt Disney ES were chosen for the opportunity to ride these new buses.  In addition, limited service will also be provided to Country Club ES, Neil Armstrong ES and Vista Grande ES.

To encourage parents to stop driving their kids to school, TRAFFIX is offering this service at less than half the cost of traditional school bus programs, at a standard rate of $250 (or discounted rate of $200). That works out to about $1 a day—less than the cost of driving back and forth to school twice a day.
