Our Town is a very special place ... blessed with a beautiful natural setting, a rich sense of history, and a small town ambiance seldom found in the Bay Area. Since incorporation in 1982, the Town has worked diligently and proactively to reinforce the Town's unique small town character … through planning efforts that have enhanced a physical environment that is second to none.
The Planning Division is responsible for upholding the community's vision to preserve the fundamental qualities that make Danville an exceptional place through the implementation of four basic principles:
1. Reinforce the small town character by preserving the present aesthetics and community scale.
2. Protect the quality of life within the existing developed areas of the community.
3. Couple orderly and appropriate growth with the ability to maintain high quality public facilities and services.
4. Protect the harmony between development and its natural environment by protecting natural resources and avoiding development of hazardous areas.
The Planning staff reviews and processes applications for all development proposals, updates the General Plan and other advanced planning documents, enforces the Town's design and development standards established in the Zoning Ordinance, and provides support for the Town Council, Planning Commission, Heritage Resource Commission and Design Review Board. The Planning Division also provides a responsive Code Enforcement program to assist with maintaining and promoting residents' quality of life.
