  • The Town of Danville has numerous enrichment and wellness programs planned for daily participation at the Veterans Memorial Building. Participation in activities such as senior yoga, stretching and low impact aerobics continue to grow and provide astonishing results for those older adults who are committed to improving their health.

    Many active adults are attending daily, weekly or monthly sessions in exercise, cultural arts, excursions, and themed special events.  The activities continue to be well received from people with all different skill levels and interests.

     
    The Town of Danville provides activities for all activity levels and interests and, most importantly, it allows time for people to interact with each other and share similar interests and talents while meeting on a regular basis.

  • Senior Hikes

    The Danville Area Senior Hikes (DASH) are open to all adults.  The group will set out from the San Ramon Valley Museum (corner of Prospect and Railroad Avenue) at 9:00 AM and return about 1:00 PM. Most hikes are not strenuous, but gradients are involved due to the local terrain.  Distances are usually in the 4- to 5-mile range, and the pace is moderate, with stops to view scenery, wildlife and to talk about location history when appropriate.  Trailheads are reached via carpools; passengers are asked to make a donation of 10 cents/mile to the driver. If you think that you are physically active and want to join us for the for the open air, great scenery, fascinating nature, and friendly companionship.  DASH will be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

     

  • Senior Softball

    The upcoming Fall/Winter 2010-2011 leagues (Tuesday league is 55 years and up and Wednesday league is 65 years and up) are fast approaching.  Here is some general information about the leagues.

    The Town of Danville is accepting team registrations only.  Please submit a completed roster with all of your teammates contact information (signatures need to be collected by the first game) along with a check, cash or a credit card number (VISA or MasterCard) for $360 no later than September 8.  Rosters and payment can be mailed or dropped off to the Danville Community Center, 430 Front Street, Danville, CA  94526 or faxed to (925) 838-9141.

    Players must turn the minimum age of 65 years by December 31, 2010.

    The Town of Danville will allow a maximum of 18 players per team.

    To be placed on a free agent list, you may submit your contact information to Senior Services (925-314-3490).  If there is availability on any of the teams after the September 8 registration deadline, you will be notified and may be placed on a team.

    Your team schedule/standings and a copy of the rules will be posted on the Town of Danville’s website (www.ci.danville.ca.us).  Go to the Recreation link at the top of the page, and click on the Senior link and go to the section titled Senior Softball and click on the league schedules and standings to access your team standings.  Scores will be available the day following your game. 

    The Wednesday league will run from September 29 through March 16.  The playoffs will begin on Wednesday, March 23.

    The Tuesday league will run from September 28 through March 15.  The playoffs will begin on Tuesday, March 22.

    Games will be held at Sycamore Valley Park (2101 Holbrook Drive)

    Game time will be at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays, fields #3 and #4.

    During the rainy season I will be updating the rainout hotline (925)-314-3483 (extension 5) for Senior Softball) an hour and half prior to the start of the league. 

    Please bring your own softball equipment. 

    No metal spiked cleats are allowed on the fields

  • Senior Sneaker Trips

    The Town of Danville’s Senior Sneakers program is a great way for you to make new friends and get out and around the greater Bay Area. There’s always something new to see and learn.

    Registration for September and October Senior Sneaker trips will take place on Wednesday, August 18 for Danville residents and Thursday, August 19 for non-residents.  You can submit your registration form from the Silver Streak newsletter to the Danville Community Center (420 Front Street) on or before the registration date.  Registration forms will be processed on the date listed above beginning at 8:30 a.m.

    All trips meet at the Danville Park & Ride lot unless otherwise noted in the trip details. 

  • Senior Services Volunteers

    The talents and skills of the most "seasoned" citizens are needed in our community. 

    Volunteers will have the opportunity to discover new interests and meet amazing people by facilitating book clubs, leading hikes or taking part in a whole host of other volunteer activities.
