PARKS WATER FEATURES
For the benefit of our younger (and young at heart) residents, Danville’s Maintenance Services Department maintains water features at four of our parks: Oak Hill Park, Diablo Vista Park, Sycamore Valley Park and Hap Magee Ranch Park. These fountains, sprays and other features are typically in operation from April 1 through September 30 each year and run weekdays from Noon to 6:00 p.m. and weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The water features are turned off when weather conditions aren’t favorable for this type of Park use and/or for scheduled maintenance and unforeseen repairs.
The water features all run on timers, so as to conserve water as well as prevent a buildup of water at the sites. The two at Oak Hill and Diablo Vista Parks operate for approximately 45 minute cycles and then have a rest period of approximately 15 minutes. The water features at Sycamore Valley and Hap Magee Ranch parks work off of a switch that needs to be activated by the user during the hours of operation. The switch, known as a bollard, can be found within the water feature and have signage instructing residents in their use. These more modern systems use a computer chip which cycles the water feature though a series of events for approximately 12-15 minutes and then goes into an approximate 5 minute rest period before they can be restarted.
For more information on the park water features, contact Maintenance Services at 314-3450 during normal hours of operation Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m
