  • The Planning Department is responsible for implementing Town policies that direct the physical development of the Town. The Town of Danville Municipal Code as well as the zoning ordinance are adopted to promote the orderly development of the Town. The intent is to establish general development and land use requirements to promote and protect the public safety, health, peace, comfort, and general welfare of the community as well as protect the character, social, and economic vitality of neighborhood districts. 

    The zoning ordinance defines different categories of land within a community into "zones" (residential, commercial, agricultural, office, etc.) to establish the range of uses and regulations applicable to each of those zones such as; height of buildings, location of building(s) on the lot (setbacks), amount of space structures may occupy, and parking requirements, among other things.

    The Town's online GIS map, Danville Pioneer, provides zoning and other useful parcel information. Search by parcel number (APN), address, or owner name. A report showing the zoning district will be provided to help determine what regulations would apply.
