Years and Still Going Strong
The Town of Danville is proud to announce the 27th
annual Music in the Park concert series for this summer. These free concerts
are the Town’s way of saying thank you to our wonderful citizens for supporting
our programs throughout the year. Four easy listening, fist bumping, happy
dancing feet concerts are scheduled to be held at Oak Hill Park from 6:00 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. this summer. Don’t forget to bring a blanket and lawn chairs to
this family friendly entertainment.
The Department of Rock
Saturday, July 14 at 6:00 p.m.
This classic
rock band’s witty and somewhat eccentric mission is to protect and defend the
nation from sub-standard rock. The Department of Rock and its agents
have performed, recorded, and worked with some of the greatest national &
international producers, recording artist, and pro-audio companies in the world
such as Aerosmith, Journey, Tesla, Led Zeppelin, Scorpions, Metallica,
Linkin Park and many more.
Stompy Jones
Saturday, July 28 at 6:00 p.m.
Swinging group, Stompy
Jones, has a rich retro sound combined with contemporary lyrical themes
creates a wonderful blend of songs. They have been featured in the full length
motion picture and soundtrack for Deuce of Spades and in a short film
titled All About Alice.
The Rave-Ups
Saturday, August 11 at 6:00 p.m.
The RaveUps, a Yardbirds tribute band, re-creates the sound and feel
of The Yardbirds in the most detail they can. Playing accurate
renditions of the recorded songs is how this tribute performs. Their name is
derived from one of the most famous Yardbirds albums Having A Rave Up.
Sista Monica
Saturday, August 25 at 6:00 p.m.
Nominated for “Best Soul Blues Female Artist of the Year” in
2012 by the National Blues Foundation, Sista Monica’s original song Show
Me What You’re Working With aired on the 2011 season finale of So You
Think You Can Dance.
