At their July 3, 2012 regular meeting, the Danville Town Council unanimously chose Vice-Mayor Newell Arnerich to serve as Danville Mayor and Council member Robert Storer to serve as Vice-Mayor. 

The move was necessitated by the resignation of Council member and previous Mayor Candace Andersen, who was elected to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.  Andersen resigned on June 25, 2012 after being appointed by Governor Jerry Brown’s office to take office early and fill the remaining term of the late Gayle Uilkema.   

Mayor Arnerich and Vice-Mayor Storer will serve out the remainder of the current term, which ends December 4, 2012.   

 Andersen’s seat on the Town Council will be filled in the November 6, 2012 General Election, with the new Council member taking office when the new term begins.
